Changes in targeted ads?

Advertisers! Google is updating its personalized advertising policies and introducing new targeting restrictions. Previously, Housing, employment and credit products or service ads could be targeted towards people based on their gender, age, parental status, marital status, or ZIP code. Now, you will no longer be able to target your ads based on these things. This change in targeting restrictions will likely affect advertisers using Google Ads. If you are advertising:

  • Housing listing sites
  • Individual houses for sale
  • Rental
  • Real estate services
  • Ads for jobs
  • Job recruitment sites
  • Job listing sites
  • Credit cards
  • Home loans
  • Car loans
  • Appliance loans
  • Short-term loans

In the United states and Canada, you must comply with these new changes. Advertisers will receive notifications in their Google Ads accounts that will let them know that they need to look over and comply with these new changes before the new policy goes into effect on October 19th. If the advertiser has not agreed to the changes by October 19th, they will no longer be able to create new ads or promote the same ads under the old targeting guidelines. Advertisers should update all their ads and campaigns BEFORE October 19th when the new targeting policy goes into effect.
